Help for Seniors

Senior Financial Care® (SFC®) is a financial counseling program designed to assist the senior population age 60 and older in maintaining their independence. Most seniors face the daunting task of surviving financially on a limited income of Social Security, personal savings, and possibly a pension. This comes just as they are also burdened with increasing need for expensive medications, more intensive health care, and declining physical vigor.

Senior Financial Care® can step in and assist senior citizens in their homes or in the office with

  • Bill Paying
  • Bank Statement Reconciliation
  • Monthly Expense Management
  • Medical Insurance Counseling
  • Credit Counseling
  • Debt Repayment
  • Reverse Mortgage Counseling
  • Fraud Awareness
  • Information Referral

Senior Financial Care® counselors can partner with seniors to accomplish the tasks of writing checks for monthly bills, reconciling bank statements, and personal budgeting. SFC® can also provide a system of organization to keep up with necessary paperwork.

SFC® counselors are certified by the North Carolina Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) to provide up-to-date counseling in Medicare, Medicaid, and Supplemental Insurance. They can assist with filing claims, sorting out coverage and payments, and follow-ups.

Credit card debt and medical expense debt can accumulate quickly for seniors trying to make ends meet on a limited income. Senior Financial Care® can negotiate with creditors to reduce required payments or establish a debt management plan. As certified North Carolina Housing Finance Agency Reverse Mortgage counselors, they can also provide information about reverse mortgage options.

The senior population is often the target of financial schemes and scams. Senior Financial Care® maintains up-to-date information on the latest scams and can counsel seniors on how to identify and avoid becoming victims of fraud.

Senior Financial Care® maintains and constantly updates the resources available to seniors in our local community. Should a client need additional services beyond the scope of SFC®, counselors will provide appropriate information and referral.
